inWeston Magazine
inWeston Magazine was a full and vibrant community-led lifestyle magazine with over 50 pages. We had a core team of people, as well as working with the public to bring content together from fashion to food, historical think pieces and more. Working with inWeston's fabulous editor and a few others, we put together a jam-packed first issue. inWeston was positively received by the people of Weston-super-Mare, with many people lining up to get involved for the second issue after a successful launch event.
As the lead designer, I experimented and executed almost everything from the branding style and logo, the page layouts, to the cover and a few adverts within. I created the ins and outs of the look but I couldn't have done it without a team of people to give me the thumbs up! I also assisted with social media posts and the website (no longer available).
Unfortunately, since inWeston magazine is around no longer, I don't have access to the many pieces I designed for socials and closer looks at the spreads.
Snapshot
When branding inWeston, I had to keep in mind that a diverse group of people would be reading it - so there had a to be a something to suit everyone. We wanted the magazine to be a little edgy and fun, something that young adults would pick up as well as older groups.
For the front cover, I came up with the idea to roughly collage pictures related to Weston-super-Mare, whether that be historical images, some local businesses, images of current events and street art or simply the beach views. Each issue would be different, and would feature images related to the articles, assorted with various other Weston-related imagery. The brand colours had to be diverse, though their use minimal enough to blend a youthful edge with a clean and chic look.
