BACKES BEAUTY
Logo and Imagery for Backes Beauty

WHO?
Jessica Backes is a local makeup artist, who has since joined The Beauty Spot, a collective of beauticians. Jess eventually plans to branch out into more than makeup, so wanted to keep the name open for possible business expansion.
WHAT?
Jess had a clear idea in mind of what she wanted - A feminine-appealing design, with handwritten typography and geometric shape. I took this and developed a logo that was classic and sophisticated, brought to life with a handwritten typeface made to give depth.
Serif typeface Cormorant Garamond has been tweaked to appear slightly thinner in areas, softening its look, and was inspired by prolific fashion magazines. It makes a strong contrast to the handwritten "beauty", which delicately intertwines with the Backes identity.
To add to the soft appeal, I chose to place the logo onto a tissue-like material background - inspired by lipstick napkins.
This element is incorporated into the Backes Beauty Price List, among other imagery such as the diamond shape. I have advised Jess on social media, and helped her set up her Facebook page.
